This is the last time of Slovak Cooking Class this year! Have you tried
some of menus which have been introduced since Spring? This time, it is
not the same as usual. Itfs Christmas party! We all staff visited the
residence some hours earlier than the time of starting the party. However,
Jela had already set up everything and nothing was left for us to do. Yes,
Jela kindly ginvitedh us to the party! Main dishes were roasted duck and
roasted fish. Put a slice of roasted duck and sour cabbage on a small piece of potato pancake, roll it and eat it! Roasted carp is a must item for Christmas in Slovak, but Jela served gTaih instead considering the taste of Japanese visitors. Other dishes are also special menus for Christmas. Cabbage soup, colorful salad and a lot of kinds of fancy sweets! Among them, gChristmas teah (Christmas punch) is special hot tea which is very sweet with fruit juice and smells good with brandy. It might make people feel warm and happy even though the outside is frozen. There are a variety of items from simple ones to time-consuming ones. Why not pick up some of them and try them for your own party? |

We visited the residence and pushed the door bell ring button.---Silent.
We tried again. No answer. Then, instead of hearing Jelafs voice from the speaker, the door opened and some cute voice welcomed us gHello!h It was cute Santa Clause girls! They were Jelafs 10-year old daughter, Nicola and her cousin, Petra! Now I understand. This is the way how they treat visitors when they throw parties at home. All family are supposed to host people! They invited us inside to find the stairs decorated with small candles, the curtains sprinkled by fir tree leaves and ribbon-shaped pasta painted in red. The lights were turned down and only candles enhanced the atmosphere of celebrating the calm party. In Slovak, it is said that Santa Clause visit homes on December 6th. Each home decorate its rooms to be ready for welcoming Santa Clause. They stay in those decorated rooms for about a month through the New Year---. So do the Ambassadorfs family. Jela, wearing a dark and clear Slovak blue one-piece dress, addressed to begin the party. gThis is an unofficial party today! All I want is that you enjoy! Please enjoy, eat, drink and talk, talk, talk!h Her smile made us all visitors relaxed. We gathered here and were connected each other thanks to Slovak today. What a wonderful coincident! We enjoyed foods, drinks, talks and new meetings. May peace and happiness prevail on all of us and all of you next year, too! I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See you soon! |
